Happy 4th to our great country!

Tis another 4th of July and with the sweltering heat during the day and torrential rain storms in the afternoon - all were great!

Our cul-de-sac was a quiet one this year; all our neighbors packed up and left town to visit families or just enjoy a weekend out of town for some R&R. Luckily gas prices didn't soar to $3.00 or more as previously predicted just because of the holiday. We miss seeing everyone around like years past but enjoyed the calmness and quiet time.

Kurt and I took the boys to pick up some fireworks and we decided to get them the day of; more sales and better deals. Evan wanted sparklers, gold and neon ones this year and Jared just wanted smoke balls - I don't know but we got him a whole box and he was pleased!

We got together with our long time friends Jerry & Angel and their three boys for what was suppose to be a fireworks display in Castle Rock but the rain came and it was not just a little sprinkle, it flooded the streets and overflowed the gutters! It was questionable whether or not we would be able to see the fireworks. So we waited it out with time to spare luckily and visited and caught up with what's happening with them lately. When it was nearly dark, the rain stopped and skies cleared so off we went.

Fireworks are so traditional and it just isn't the same without them which is symbolic to celebrate the joys of our wonderful country.

The boys had a great time visiting their buddies and the grown up got a chance to chat. Perfect 4th!! Hope you had a great one as well and God Bless our Country...!

  1. Looks like fun. We had some of those torrential downpours here as well. Getting caught up with old friends is the best.
